Kevin S. Stepaniuk DVM, FAVD, Diplomate, American Veterinary Dental College® and Board Certified Veterinary Dentist™ is a renowned speaker and educator. He is Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College® and a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. He has experience in general practice, emergency practice, academic clinical specialty practice, and private specialty practice which serves as a foundation to his practical, yet evidence based approached to patient care and client services as well as his education style during seminars.  He has been lecturing and teaching seminars to veterinarians, veterinary students, and veterinary technicians for over 15 years.

Through his clinical work, he helps provide pain and infection free oral cavities in pets to improve health and quality of life. With his clients, he provides education and understanding of the various disease processes affecting their pets. Additionally, Dr. Stepaniuk and our team volunteer time and services to various zoos and wildlife organizations to treat dental disease, alleviate pain and infection, and improve quality of life in these animal collections.

He is an invited lecturer, nationally and internationally, at major state, national, and international conferences as well as local veterinary medical associations. He has lectured and instructed laboratories at the Annual Veterinary Dental Forum and lectured at the European Congress of Veterinary Dentistry. Additionally, he provides customized and individualized in hospital education programs for private veterinary hospital education needs.

Dr. Stepaniuk was an educator at the University of Minnesota College of Medicine (2009-2014) as an assistant clinical professor and served as section chief of veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. Clinical service and instruction was his primary effort allocation in the teaching hospital. He was awarded the UMN Veterinary Clinical Sciences Teaching Award (2012-2013) selected by the veterinary students for the most outstanding teacher during their first three years of veterinary college. He greatly expanded and enhanced the dentistry and oral surgery curriculum during his appointment and returned to continue teaching the curriculum (2015, 2016) after his return to private referral practice in 2014. He has provided didactic dentistry and oral surgery curriculum for Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in various years. In addition to his clinical teaching award he has received the American Veterinary Dental Society Presidents Award (2009) and Inaugural American Veterinary Dental Society Student Chapter Mentor Award (2011) in recognition for his establishment and contributions to the Student Chapters of the American Veterinary Dental Society.  He is a past board member and executive board member of the American Veterinary Dental College® (AVDC®).

Dr. Stepaniuk has authored peer reviewed manuscripts, textbook chapters, and clinical research on clinical topics pertinent and applicable to daily veterinary practice in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. With continued development of several clinically related publications in process, he remains active in advancement of veterinary knowledge and patient care. In addition to his own work, he serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals in the area of veterinary dentistry and oral surgery.

He has chaired, led, and served as a committee member within various organizations in academia, American Veterinary Dental College®, Academy of Veterinary Dentistry, American Veterinary Dental Society, and Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry. He continues to be professionally active in the future of veterinary dentistry, veterinary dental education, and specialty veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. He has received the AVDC® Presidential Medal For Stewardship.

Dr. Stepaniuk is a dynamic and enthusiastic clinician; he has a passion to educate and improve the veterinary community’s knowledge and clinical skill in veterinary dentistry, raising the level of oral and dental health in the pet population. He believes every veterinarian should be able to diagnose common dental and oral pathology and provide services to alleviate the insidious pain and suffering in our pets.
